26/06/2009 - High-def temptation for TV warranty shoppers
A new Blu-ray player has been looked at this week that could be of interest to those with high definition-enabled LCD TVs or plasma screens.

Trusted Reviews reported this week that the Philips BDP7300 model is capable of holding its own against a number of other "distinguished" units, but added that a few of its rivals may be a better purchase for some.

It states although the manufacturer was one of the original companies that founded the format, it has not yet had a Blu-ray player "worth shouting about" - but may now have found one.

The review explains: "Its hi-def picture and sound performance is outstanding, disc loading is super speedy and the solid set of features makes it feel like good value for money."

However, some of the playback is described as temperamental and it is for this reason the piece says consumers should weigh the model up against the likes of the Panasonic DMP-BD60 and Samsung BD-P3600.

The site looked at the latter Blu-ray player in May this year and concluded it was "excellent value for money".
