So your child's birthday is just around the corner and you are completely stumped as to what to get them, here are some simple, reasonably inexpensive gadgets that will keep your young ones entertained for hours and who knows, you might even get a go on them too!

Amp-style speaker

Your kids might very well already own an iPod, so we thought to leave it off this mini list, but how about this great amp-style speaker for his/her iPod/MP3 player? It may be small, but it contains a high quality speaker and plays crystal-clear music that will keep the kids entertained for as long as their iPod battery lasts. You can also use the speaker as the sound output for your pc and it works with batteries, so you can use it wherever and whenever you want!

PlayStation Portable (PSP)

Another great (if not unknown) option is a PlayStation Portable (PSP). Possibly the best handheld gaming console on the market and it has dominated that very market since its release in 2004. It was the first handheld console to feature an optical disc format, Universal Media Disc (UMD). Some of its other impressive features include a large screen, awesome multimedia capabilities as well as connectivity to the PlayStation3, other PSP’s and even the Internet.

There are two great gift ideas for your children and if you play your cards right you might even be able to kill some time using these toys yourself. Just remember to check your warranty and enquire whether or not you could add these to your computer warranty.
