08/01/2007 - News from the home of television insurance: Wireless plasma TV coming
Korean electronics giant Samsung is to debut a plasma TV which does not need wires in order to receive info from set-top boxes and PCs.

Though the TV still needs to be plugged into the wall, the data will travel wirelessly over the 802.11(n).

Dubbed the HP-T5894, the 58-inch HDTV will have 1080p resolution and a 10,000:1 contrast ratio.

A 300 ft range will allow the TV to be in a totally different room than the separate components.

Unveiled at the recent Samsung press conference in Las Vegas, the HP-T5894 is not due to be released until September and will retail for £2,949.

Meanwhile, Japanese company Pioneer has announced that it is to introduce its own high definition plasma TV, reports Reuters.

The new TV is to feature richer colours and deeper shades of black and is meant to compete with Samsung, Hitachi and others in the increasingly competitive plasma TV market.
