17/01/2007 - News from the warranty specialists: 1 in 8 men 'would swap girlfriend for an iPod'
A full 13 per cent of men would swap their partner for electrical goods such as an iPod, plasma TV, or fridge freezer, a new survey has discovered.

The younger generation was found to be much more mercenary than their older counterparts, with 17 per cent of 16 to 24-year-olds willing to make the swap, while only two per cent of 55 to 64-year-olds would consider giving up their partner.

However, slightly more over 65-year-olds, three per cent in fact, were willing to swap their other half for a cool gadget.

And the fairer sex were also less materialistic than the young men in the survey, with only six per cent willing to trade in their boyfriend or husband for the sake of technology.

Performed by GfK NOP, the research surveyed 1,000 UK adults for the price comparison service 60207.

Meanwhile, the popular iPod Shuffle has been made even smaller and handier.

Crafted from a truly diminutive piece of aluminium, the new Shuffle has a one-gig memory, capable of storing up to 240 songs.
