'Electrical goods don't mix with children or animals' confirms Domestic & General survey

A new report from Domestic &General proves conclusively that children and animals can be a menace to electrical goods. In the six months analysed, a staggering 32% of accidental damage claims on electrical or electronic products protected by a D&G service plan were attributed to kids or family pets.


Top of the list of offenders is committed football fanatic, Bailey the 45kg Rottweiler from Manchester. At a critical moment during an England International game, Bailey hurled himself across the room at the household’s 42" plasma screen to catch the ball. The television was knocked off its stand and, while Bailey survived unscathed, a deep scratch in the screen meant the TV was a write-off.


Thankfully owner Alison Johnson had taken out a service plan with Domestic & General and it took just a few days to get a replacement television through her local retailer.


Children are the root cause of most accidental damage incidents to televisions, with over 29% of D&G’s damaged TV claims in the last six months being attributed to toddlers and young children. Explanations for the damage have included:
