Home > Are you ready for the digital switchover?

On November 6th the Border region began the switch from analogue to digital television. At midnight the area’s Selkirk transmitter was turned off, meaning that BBC2 was lost to viewers without digital receiving equipment.
After the initial switchover in Whitehaven last year, Border is the first full ITV region to switch and will soon be followed by by West Country, Wales and Granada.
If you live in one of these areas you will soon be hearing from Digital UK, the company who is overseeing the switchover process, but in the meantime it is worth checking to make sure your equipment is up-to-date.
According to a BBC Watchdog report*, many people who have bought Freeview boxes are unaware that their equipment will not survive the switchover. They advised viewers to look out for the Digital UK logo with the pink tick – advice that also applies to television sets.
