Sleep safely this winter

Keeping warm with an electric blanket during cold winter nights might be an appealing thought.  However, a new campaign has been launched which warns homeowners to take care when using them.


“It’s crucial that people visually check their blankets regularly for signs of wear and damage and replace them with new blankets where necessary,” says Phil Buckle of the Electrical Safety Council, which is running the awareness campaign.




“Tragically, fires caused by faulty electric blankets are not uncommon,” he says, “and we would also ask people to check on elderly friends and relatives to help spot potentially unsafe blankets.”
