Newslines: How to retune your TV for the digital switchover

The digital switchover is well under way, with the West Country being the latest ITV region to turn off the analogue signal.

For your television and receiving equipment (such as a Freeview box) to work, they must have the pink ‘Digital Tick’ logo, or have been converted for digital use (for more information on this see our quick guide to the digital switchover).

However, according to Digital UK, even ‘digital-ready’ equipment will need to be retuned after switchover if you have or are planning to get Freeview, BT Vision or Top Up TV.

Switchover is a two-stage process and you will need to retune your digital box or TV:

At each of the two stages of switchover (exact dates for your area will be provided in the run-up to switchover)
If you find you have lost any TV channels
Periodically after switchover to ensure you pick up any new channels and services that become available

To retune, just follow the simple steps provided by Digital UK below:

Step One

Press ‘menu’
Select the ‘set up’ or ‘installation’ menu
Select ‘first time installation’ or ‘update’

Step Two

Some digital televisions, boxes and TV recorders will ask you for a code. If you haven’t already changed it, this is usually either 0000 or 1234.
