Will I have to pay more if I make lots of claims
or have lots of repairs? (Back to top)

use of their cover. We do not raise our prices for people who make
claims or need repairs with their boiler cover plan. We want any customer to be able to make a claim
without worrying about their boiler cover fees increasing.

How do I know what kind of boiler I have? (Back
to top)
If you have a hot water tank or an airing cupboard in your house, then
you have a conventional boiler. If not, you have a combination boiler.
Condensing boilers are specialist boilers and it is unlikely that you
would have one of these in your home without being aware of it.
Is my boiler too old to be covered? (Back
to top)
The age limit for a HeatGuard cover plan depends on the type of boiler. Combination
and condensing boilers can be covered until they are 8 years old while boiler
cover can be taken out on conventional boilers until they are 15
years old. Once you have taken out a plan on your boiler, you can normally
continue to renew the cover for the rest of its life.
Do you need to inspect my boiler first? (Back
to top)
No. Your boiler cover will start 30 days after receipt of your application,
without an inspection being required. However, please note that your
boiler cover will not be valid if any information you provide us is false or
exaggerated.
Can I use my own boiler repairer? (Back
to top)
The work of our boiler repairers is monitored and guaranteed, and we ensure
that they carry public liability insurance. We can't be certain of any
of this with your local repairer. This is why we prefer all repairs
to be carried out by our approved engineers.
By using our own regulated network, we can also ensure that costs are
controlled. This allows us to keep fees to a minimum without compromising
customer service.
What is your limit for a boiler or central heating repair? (Back
to top)
With HeatGuard boiler cover, there is a claim limit of £1500 a year inclusive
of VAT, which is more than sufficient for most central heating repairs.
If any one boiler repair is estimated to cost more than £150, the repairer
must call our Claims Department to obtain further authorisation before
going ahead with the work.
For how long can I cover my boiler on one
plan? (Back to top)
Central heating systems can only be covered on an annual basis. However,
when a boiler cover plan expires, you can normally continue to renew it every year
for the rest of its useful life.
Can I cover my oil boiler? (Back
to top)
No. We are unable to cover oil boilers.

or electrical equipment, as they generate a spark. Go outside and call
TRANSCO on 0800 111 999. They will send an engineer to make your boiler
safe. You can then contact us for an engineer to come and repair your
boiler for you.
